Canon Characters
How to Apply for a Canon Character
Canon Characters and their applications are held to a moderate to the highest standard of expectations. We want those who RP canon characters to not only have a good understanding of the English language, but also an understanding of the character they are roleplaying as, as well as the Cyberpunk setting and genre as a whole.
You may have 1 Canon Character.
To apply for a canon character, simply follow these steps:
- If the character is already taken, ask the staff if they are still being used! This prompts us to do an activity check, and we may be able to free the character for you.
- Fill out a Character Sheet as if you were making a Normal Character. Fill it out as accurately as you can make it for that canon character.
- For Cybernetics, match what they are listed to have if they have it.
- If they have nothing listed on the wikia or other source material, go off what they can be reasonably assumed to have, either by looks or capabilities.
- You may add a small number of additional cybernetics if you wish, but it must make sense for their character and be relatively minor.
- For Demeanor, we want to see how you describe the character. This gives us an idea of how you might roleplay them.
- For Backstory, we want to see writing that covers the character's past (what have they done?), what they've been up to (what have they been doing since 2077?), and what they are doing right now. This gives us an understanding of how much you know about the character, how you write lore surrounding the character, and at least the character's intended goals that you have given them.
- Please avoid simply reposting a character's wikia page as their backstory. We don't expect too much quantity wise for their past, but we do want to see it in your own words.
- Once completed, post the character in Character Submissions with the Canon Character tag. A staff member (usually the owner) will review it and work with you to determine cybernetics as well as their belongings and reputation.
Keep in mind that some characters have already been written and applied for in the past. In that instance, we may ask that you iterate on their character sheet, with you taking on the role of that character rather than adapting them to the server.
After you have been approved, you are free to roleplay the Canon Character. However, please keep the following in mind:
- You are expected to remain somewhat active on the character. Others are free to ask if a character is still being used, and if they do so, we will check if you are still playing the character.
- If you are no longer active, the character will be made free again. We do not return characters to prior members unless the character is freed once more and you apply for it again.
- If you are active but do not actively roleplay the character, you will be notified, and given a week to show consistent activity.
- Whilst you have been approved for the character, we as staff hold the right to revoke the canon character if we feel that the character is not being portrayed in a manner befitting them, or overall RP quality.
- Canon Characters may be called on to partake in events. If so, we may request that you do so.
- Canon Characters, while not normally able to be killed in random roleplay scenes, may be killed in events or gigs should staff approve it. Please keep this in mind when applying for a Canon Character!
