How Character Progression Works

In Cyberpunk 2080, character progression, outside of your character's personal growth, works in two ways: Reputation and Belongings, given through Roleplay Confirmation.

Roleplay Confirmation

On this server, with as much freedom as you have to roleplay what you want, if a scene is roleplayed, it is in a state of "semi-canon." It can be said to have happened, but if something contradicts it in the future, it will be made non-canon.

Roleplay Confirmation assures that it is canon! You can find the channel (and more details on it) here: #rp-confirmation + What is RP Confirmation? + Template

When you submit a scene for confirmation, staff review it to see if it really happened and wasn't too absurd. Your character may be impacted by the setting, which can be both good and bad. New items, faction responses, reputation changes, and more. Finally, if it is notable, it may go on the Timeline in Lore.

Belongings

These are things such as your characters living status, cybernetics, items, weapons, etc.

How do I get more things?

Money, of course. But we do not track outright currency in Cyberpunk 2080. We want your character's material growth to be decided by you, and focused on your character's story.

To acquire more things, your character must be used in roleplay, or you must GM other's roleplay.

When you have completed an RP scene, you then make a post in #rp-confirmation. This lets the staff know that you've done some RP, and officially canonizes it. When you post in Roleplay Confirmation, the staff will grant you the ability to choose an Item/Cybernetic by Grade.

How Grades Work

Grades of items are basically how valuable they are.

An item's grade determines what you need to do to acquire it.

In general, the grades are:

  • Grade E: The item can be taken at any time.
  • Grade D: You must at least do Self-RP to acquire it.
  • Grade C: You must at least roleplay with one other person, or carry out a trivial gig (quest) to acquire it.
  • Grade B: You must at least partake in an easy gig (quest) to acquire it.
  • Grade A: You must at least partake in an average/moderate level gig (quest) to acquire it.
  • Grade S: You must at least partake in an intense/hard gig (quest) to acquire it.
  • Grade X: You must partake in an extremely intense/hard gig (quest) to acquire it. These gigs are usually suicide missions with miniscule chances of survival.

If any grade has a "+" next to it (except for Grade S), such as "C+", it means you must also find RP with a medtech (for cybernetics) or a fixer/corpo (for other items). Alternatively, you can simply fulfill the requirements for the grade above it.

Grade S and X is unique in that you can save Grade S/X, up to 4 max.

Certain roles can also grant you more things depending on the role. You can find out what these are in the Character Roles.

GM Rewards

Those who act as a Gamemaster for a gig are also rewarded, and often with far more! Check out these rewards here: YOU can run Quests!
