Corpos and Reputation - A Guide to Corpo Hierarchy

This is a short and simple guide about how reputation affects the position of a corpo.

The Idea

A corpo's position in the company is intended to usually be linked to their reputation, as their reputation determines how powerful they are or how much control they hold over the corporation.

The Reputation Scale

The reputation of a corpo determines their position in the hierarchy. This is what that hierarchy looks like. Note that this is written as if you are working for a megacorp in their Night City regional branch, a very prestigious and major location.

0 Reputation - High Priority Workcenter

  • Frontline Supervisor of a Workcenter. Example: Supervisor of Zone A, Research and Development
  • Usually controls about 5-10 workers.
  • Not usually expected to have armed security.

0 Reputation - Lower Priority Workcenter

  • Manager of a Workcenter. Example: Manager of Infrastructure, Network Control
  • Usually controls about 10-20 workers.
  • Not usually expected to have armed security.

1-2 Reputation

  • Assistant Manager of a Section. Example: Assistant Manager of Network Control, Operations
  • Usually controls about 20-50 workers.
  • May have 2 mercenaries assigned to them in the event that they are going directly into danger.
  • Will have 2-5 security guards under them.

3-4 Reputation

  • Manager of a Section. Example: Manager of Network Control, Operations
  • Usually controls about 50-100 workers.
  • May have 3 mercenaries assigned to them in the event that they are going directly into danger.
  • Will have 5-10 security guards under them.

5-6 Reputation

  • Assistant Director of a Division. Example: Assistant Director of Operations, Night City Branch
  • Usually controls about 100-200 workers.
  • May have 4 mercenaries assigned to them in the event that they are going directly into danger.
  • Can have 1 personal bodyguard at all times.
  • Will have 10-20 security guards under them.

7-8 Reputation

  • Director of a Division. Example: Director of Operations, Night City Branch
  • Usually controls about 200-500 workers.
  • May have 5 mercenaries assigned to them in the event that they are going directly into danger.
  • Can have 3 personal bodyguards at all times.
  • Will have 20-50 security guards under them.

9 Reputation

  • Usually controls about 500-1000 workers.
  • Are no longer expected to go directly into danger.
  • Can have 5 personal bodyguards at all times.
  • Will have 50-100 security guards under them.

10 Reputation

  • Regional Manager. Example: Regional Manager of Arasaka, Night City Branch
  • Usually controls about 1000-2000 workers.
  • Will usually have an exceptionally powerful solo protecting them.
  • Will have 100-200 security guards under them.

Going Elite

Once your corpo character has reached Reputation 10, they can attempt to reach The Elite status. This lets them ascend to the highest economic status one can achieve on the server. But, it won't be easy. They have to make a major move in the corp. A crazy huge accomplishment of sorts. Essentially, they must fund an operation. This means either running a gig, or paying a fixer to run a gig for them. Those who participate will be going into a situation that is extremely dangerous, but also often for high reward.

Once the corpo is Elite, they are promoted to the Executive Board of a Megacorp. Highly coveted, their decisions influence the entire corporation. Their wealth is practically limitless. Entire security teams can follow them around, as they now live in a mansion, with the best of accommodations. The only position higher than them are the CEOs and presidents of the megacorps and their families, whose power is truly limitless.

What about Chrome Corpos?

Chrome Characters who are Corpos are treated as if they had Reputation 8, even if they start at 0. This means they could be the assistant director of a division for a regional branch.

Remember: Chrome Characters are not expected to grow much, if at all. They are meant to be set pieces, and in this case, most likely an antagonistic villain if they are a corpo.
